Turnstone is a Mac app that runs a team of AI agents on the ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Cursor, API, or local models you already use.
Core capabilities
Give each job its own agent
You start with a Chief of Staff. You describe the work, and it sets up an agent for each part, such as outreach, writing, or engineering. Each agent keeps the preferences you correct. One agent can hand a task to another and bring the result back into the chat.
Use the model that fits the job
The site shows agents on different models, and a switch in the middle of one conversation while the agent keeps the same job and memory. Homepage sign-in options include ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Cursor, plus an API key or a model run locally with Ollama. OpenRouter is listed when you want Gemini or other models through a key.
Let an agent browse, schedule, and draft
Each agent can open sites in its own Turnstone Browser tab. A phrase such as "every weekday at 9" saves a schedule and reports back in chat. Connected apps such as Gmail, Slack, Google Calendar, and Granola are shown as sources the agents can read. Drafts stay for you to review.
How to use it
Download Turnstone for Mac. The download covers Apple silicon and Intel. Sign in with a subscription or API key you already have, or run a local model. Tell the Chief of Staff what you are working on, then correct an agent's memory when a draft is wrong. Files it reads and edits stay in a folder you choose. On the Mac app, a saved schedule runs when the Mac is on.
Who it suits
It suits someone who already pays for one or more AI subscriptions and wants several persistent agents on their own Mac, rather than a single chat window. It is a poor fit if you need a Windows or Linux app today: the site only collects requests for those builds. It is also a poor fit if the agents must keep working while the Mac is closed, until the Cloud add-on leaves the waitlist.
If you mainly need one hosted chatbot on a website, a site agent is a different product. Check first that you have a Mac and a model you are allowed to use.
Pricing, access and limits
Turnstone on your Mac is $0. The pricing page includes persistent agents, a Chief of Staff, and connectors, and says no card is required. Model usage is billed by the provider you sign in with, or stays on the machine if you use Ollama. The privacy policy says prompts sent to your own provider go from the Mac to that provider and are not stored by Turnstone. The same policy describes an exception: free open-source models offered when you do not have your own access run on inference Turnstone arranges.
Cloud is listed at $49 a month and marked coming soon. Joining it is a waitlist, not a checkout. The homepage says the first 1,000 people get the first month free, and that Cloud remains $49 after that month while the Mac app stays free. Cloud is described as keeping agents working with the Mac closed, including messages from a phone. The pricing page also points people without an AI subscription to Turnstone AI, with models and Cloud included, and does not show a separate price for that option.
If you connect Gmail, the privacy policy describes that access as read-only. Turnstone can read and search mail you authorize. It cannot send, change, or delete that mail. Files, the local memory, chat history, and API keys stay on the Mac. Turnstone says it does not use your files, local memory, or connected-service data to train models.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Mac app free?
Yes. The pricing page lists Turnstone for Mac at $0. You still need a model: your own subscription, an API key, a local model, or the free open-source models described in the privacy policy.
Where does the work live?
On your Mac. The privacy policy says files, the knowledge base, conversations, and API keys are stored locally, and that Turnstone does not keep a copy of that local memory.
Will agents run while the Mac is asleep?
Not on the free Mac app. Scheduled briefs are described as running when the Mac is on. Always-on work is the Cloud add-on, still marked coming soon at $49 a month.
Can it send email for me?
The privacy policy says connected Gmail access is read-only, so Turnstone cannot send, change, or delete that mail. The homepage shows drafts waiting for review.
